I SURRENDER ALL?
Sunday’s Main Event @ washington avenue was awesome, just as it is each and every week. The last 4 or 5 weeks we have been discussing Generosity and realizing what God wants FOR us not FROM us! As americans we have been truly blessed and are truly some, if not the, richest people on the planet. On that same note we take those blessings for granted. We are selfish people and we are very selfish with our money as well as with our time (THIS INCLUDES CHRISTIANS). We, as proclaimed Christians, have lost our focus, our purpose. It has been lost in the biggest houses, the best cars, the hottest gadgets and clothes.
Sunday morning the Lord spoke to me and taught me something even before the message was preached. We were singing “I Surrender All”, and God said to me, “If that is true then why are there empty seats?” “Why isn’t the Great Commission being taken seriously?” This is part of being selfish with our time. It is selfish of us as Christians to keep from the world the SAVING GRACE of JESUS CHRIST. The same grace and forgiveness that brought salvation to us and gave us eternal life in HEAVEN. Eternal life is a free gift, a GENEROUS gift, no strings attached. Just as HEAVEN is a real destination, so is HELL and the torment that goes with it!
How are we going to be generous with our time, our testimony, with our witness. What took place @ washington avenue Sunday was that every person was given an envelope with a certain amount of money (different amounts). Its intended purpose is not for our own personal use, but it is intended to be used to bless someone in need. This is our opportunity to begin once again practicing the GREAT COMMISSION. To share the love and compassion of Christ. To hopefully, no I need to correct myself, to see salvation take place! I pray that we all keep our eyes wide open and that each day of our life we do SURRENDER ALL!
