Expecting the Unexpected
Last night we had our first bible study group (”REGENERATION”) meeting. It was a great time of opening God’s word and digging in and fellowshipping. We discussed unmet expectations and was expectations that youg people have on them and how they handle them. The biggest thing is that in your life that you focus on the content of your life more than the context. The context is your situation (job, family, school, friends, etc…). The content is your character in the situation that you are in, Basically how you handle yourself, because your actions do speak louder than words.
We also looked @ Hagar in Gensis ch. 16. This was Ishmael’s mother, she was also Sarai’s slave. She offered Sarai to Abram her husband because she was unable to have children. Well this really turned into a fiasco and Sarai became jealous and bitter toward Hagar and mistreated her. Hagar could not take it anymore and ran away. The Lord sent and angel to her to comfort her because the Lord heard her cries and the Lord wanted to comfort her in her time of hurt. Hagar then named God, “The God Who Sees”.
We are no diiferent from Hagar, we all have hard situations and make some wrong choices. God is ther to strengthen us to comfort us because He does hear ouor cries. We must also remember that running away from a situation will not take care of it or make it go away, because most of the time the problem is us. “Whever you go, there you are!” No matter where we go, the one person we can’t escape from besides ourselves is God. So we’d better come to an honest resolution of what is it that God wants for us, not from us. Hopefully we can come to a realization that we are created to do something meaningful.
Our focus should be, what are God’s expectations for my life and the situations that I encounter. Remember, that expectation is plain and simple, “The Great Commission” ( Mt. 28: 16-20).
…………..Expect the unexpected because God is in the unexpected!
