A BACKWARD PATH

Tag: Updatescrossculture @ 8:53 am

It’s hard pressing forward in this Christian walk, to keep our eyes focused on the one who saved us.  To give our time, our love, our all to Christ there are points when we hit roadblocks, stumbling blocks, and walls.  Which are ways to get us either on our face, our back and yes even our knees.  There are even times when we need to go back to move forward.  There are times when our current paths may just end very suddenly and we have to turn around and go back.  In 1 Samuel 29:1-11, this happened to David because the Philistines did not trust him, obviously so, since he did take out Goliath.  Achish was faced with sending back his most faithful servant, David.  David did as Achish requested and went back, without grumbling, without complaining.

We need to look at David and his life because he wasn’t perfect, but he did follow God.  David was a true leader and those qualities, those characteristics showed in how he handled himself through certain situations.  That is how Christians need to be in our churches today.  We all have a senior pastor, he is the leader, the one that God has placed in charge.  We do look to that person for direction and leadership.  Ultimately we seek God’s will for guidance and I believe to find our place within the body of Christ.  If we are one, if we are unified, revival will break out, there will be a down pour of the Holy Spirit.  There will be SALVATION!!  We need to remember that sometimes going backwards helps us get ahead.

PREOCCUPIED WITH THE MOTIONS, NOT CHRIST.

I don’t want to just go through the motions in my walk, in my relationship with Christ.  I don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to be a blessing or receiving one.  This life is truly hectic, and we do tend to get busy, preoccupied with stuff, work, kids, spouse, etc…….  The sad thing is that we are not preoccupied with Christ.  We say we are, we bury our feelings, our problems and go through the motions.  Christ is not a routine, a to do list.  He is our Lord, our Saviour, our Creator, our Protector, our Provider.  He is the one that overturned tables in the temple, raised a 12 year old girl from the dead.  He is the one that faced a horrible, horrible beating and persecution.  He is the one that faced the cross and took all of our sins; past, present, future and experienced a separation from His Father.  Christ felt the lonliness, the guilt, the stress, the weight, the shame.  That is not going through the motions, that is setting things in motion.

When life gets in the way, stop, go to God on your knees and talk, share, spend time with the Master.  It’s not wrong to consult others, we are suppose to encourage and lift up our brothers and sisters in the Lord.  But, we shouldn’t make that our primary source for direction or guidance.  When God tells us something, we need to do it.  When God is moving we need to get on board and move with Him.  i would hate to miss the bus and never get another chance.  See in 1 Samuel 28: 1-25 that is exactly what Saul did,  he did not obey the Lord and ended up consulting a witch and living with the fact that the Lord has left him.  in desperate times, people will do desperate things, and consult the most unlikely sources.  What is our primary source day to day?  Mine is not always God, it is me, because I try to handle it on my own.  I’m thankful for God’s patience, mercy, grace and love.  He guides me, He allows me to take certain paths for a reason and I do think I am learning.  Atleast I better be!!
